A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement.
Title: A day in the life and home of a child in an informal settlement.
I woke up and found out that a storm happened yesterday night because there was water everywhere. I went downstairs and I went to talk to my grandpa. I said, "grandpa why do we have to live in a shack I hate it I hate living in a shack there is nothing to do inside!" I also said, "I have passed by other houses and they look beautiful!" Grandpa said, "Im sorry to say but we don't have enough money to buy a proper house." Grandpa looked very sad after saying that.
Then I went to mom in the kitchen and ate some of moms deluxe stew I asked mom," Why do other people have lots of lights and technology and we don't? Mom said," because they have enough money to buy those things." I said, " Mom why don't we have enough money?" Mom said, " It's because I don't have a good enough job." After a long silence I said, " Thank you for the food!" Then I went to my room to get ready for school. I saw that all my clothes were wet from the storm that made me really uncomfortable. They were really soggy and they stuck to my skin. Then I said, " Bye mom and grandpa!" I had to walk through a stream of water like always. When i got to school i went inside, there are 37 people in the class, plus the teacher is... Um um... Oh yeah! 38 people, We learnt about every subject it was very mashed together. I tried to get the teachers attention but in the end I couldn't.
I thought about stuff and I realized I need to get a job sooner or later or my life will stay the same forever, thats what we learnt at school, that i thought was the most important. I went to the toilets they stink! They don't have any way to flush so people come in a big truck and take all the poo and pee away. Then I went home and got dressed into my favorite pajamas, then I got in bed. I said goodnight to my mom and grandpa.
THE END
